SNIACE

Profile

Sniace is a chemical industrial group located in Torrelavega, Cantabria, whose activity includes five differentiated divisions.

The first division produces soluble cellulose for textile, sanitary and hygienic applications. It also produces lignin as a by-product that is processed together with the Norwegian Borregaard Group, to convert it into lignin sulphate. This is later sold for its application in a wide range of sectors including construction and food.

The second one, which is vertically integrated into the cellulose factory, produces cut viscose for the production of textile fabrics as well as nonwoven fabrics with multiple applications also in sanitary, cleaning and personal hygiene.

The third one focuses on the administration of generation, cogeneration and combined cycle power plants, as well as the promotion, development and operation of renewable and ecological power generation plants such as solar power, wind power and mini hydraulic.

The fourth division is in charge of the promotion, development and operation of second-generation biofuel projects, particularly of bioethanol production plants, which will then be used as ecological fuel for the transport sector.

The fifth division is in charge of the sustainable administration of the forest biomass that the industrial group uses in its manufacturing processes. Carrying out at the same time investigation and development tasks regarding the eucalyptus genetics and participating in studies about the biomass logistic administration and its use as raw material for the production of power and biofuel.
